Karel, Cultural Crossroads program at 2010 Classical Arts Awards
The Big Easy Foundation announced the winners for its Classical Arts Awards which took place at its 17th Annual Tribute to the Classical Arts luncheon on Monday, February 7, 2011. Karel received the Arts Education Award for her Cultural Crossroads program with the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. Sloane-Boekbinder is a member of the Creative Team at Ashé Cultural Arts Center where she is involved with many aspects of theatrical productions, dramatic writing, and the educational component of theater pieces. Other award recipients included: 2010 Classical Arts Awards-- Patricia Sallier Seals (Lifetime Achievement Award), Dr. Jean Montes (Special Recognition Award), Drs. R. Ranney and Emel Mize (Arts Patron Award); Classical Music & Opera Awards-- Best Classical Music Performance, Schubert Unfinished, LPO, Klauspeter Seibel, conductor; First Baptist Church, New Orleans.
